From Wannabe Travel Blogger to Leading JetSet Adventures: My Full-Circle Moment

Sometimes life writes a plot twist better than anything you could script. This week, I’m procrasta-packing for Singapore, Bali, and the Komodo Islands — traveling with a group of nine JetSet travel agents as we explore rooftop lounges, rice terraces, and pink-sand beaches.

It’s wild to think that just a few years ago, I was day-dreaming about being a travel blogger. Now I’m out here helping others unlock the same travel perks and insider access while living the dream myself. Full-circle doesn’t even cover it.

“been there, booked that.”

The Origin Story: From Blogger Dreams to Boarding Passes

Once upon a time, in the not-so-far-off land of My Ambitions, I dreamed of spinning tales so gripping that even Netflix would want to binge-watch my life. Picture it: me, MacBook in hand, ready to conquer the world one viral post at a time. But plot twist! Life, being the cheeky scriptwriter it is, decided my storyline needed a genre flip. Cue dramatic music as I wander, slightly bewildered, into the kaleidoscopic world of travel agents.

Yep, you heard that right — from crafting narratives to crafting itineraries (at which I’ve always been amazing 🤩). I thought I’d be the next big thing in travel content creation, but the universe had other plans. Suddenly, I was jet-setting to places my former self would have only visited through Google Street View — in HD, 3D, and no editing required.

It turns out, the perks of being a travel agent rival any influencer deal. I dive into cultures like I’m auditioning for a globe-trotting blockbuster while keeping my pharmacy career castle intact (moat and drawbridge included). It’s like winning the career lottery without even buying a ticket — although ask me again during flu-shot season. 🤣

Who would’ve guessed that my ticket to utopia would literally be a boarding pass? This plot twist came with a soundtrack, a suitcase, and a supporting cast of incredible humans — some I haven’t even met in person, but who’ve become part of my daily story.

Some people call it a vacation — we call it continuing education with better views. 🐘✨

The Appeal of Travel Content Creation

Let’s be real — the idea of being a travel content creator is chef’s kiss. You get to travel, tell stories, and share experiences with the world. The dream is seductive… until you realize how much unpaid time goes into making it look effortless.

  • Travel Opportunities: Frequent trips, cultural immersion, and all the local bites you can handle.
  • Storytelling: Turning your adventures into scroll-stopping moments that inspire others.
  • Behind-the-Scenes Access: VIP invites and sneak peeks at experiences few get to see.
  • Flexible Lifestyle: Work from anywhere — beach bar or airport lounge.
  • Passion Meets Paycheck: Monetize what you already love doing.
  • Community: Build a loyal audience that travels (and laughs) with you.

But it’s not all sunsets and hashtags. The truth? Most creators self-fund their travels and hustle for years before seeing consistent income. It’s a grind — one I respect deeply — but one that isn’t for everyone.

Becoming a Travel Agent (a.k.a. My Accidental Pivot)

My detour into the travel agent world started almost by accident — but it became the best decision I ever made. As an agent, you get the same access and perks the influencers post about, but you’re the one earning commission every time someone books. And here’s the kicker: there’s commission built into everything you book, even for yourself!

I still manage a busy pharmacy (because yes, someone has to keep everyone alive during flu season 🩺), but I’ve also built a thriving side business with JetSet through InteleTravel. They pay top-tier commissions, require no quotas, and include all the training in the startup cost. Translation: I get to travel smarter, not harder — and help others do the same. Perks of the Profession

As a travel agent, you’re not just planning vacations — you’re test-driving them. Resorts, cruises, and tour companies offer FAM trips (familiarization trips) so agents can experience their products firsthand. Some are discounted, others completely free — it’s like being paid to learn.

You gain insider access, supplier relationships, and firsthand expertise that make you a better planner (and a smarter traveler). You don’t need a massive following — just a passion for exploring and the desire to turn wanderlust into income.

Fast-Forward to Today: JetSet in Bali & Beyond

What started as an “oops-I-guess-I’m-a-travel-agent” moment has officially leveled up. I’m heading out with nine incredible JetSet travel agents to explore Singapore’s skyline, Bali’s beaches, and the Komodo Islands’ wild beauty. Together, we’ll scout luxury stays, test excursions, and gather insider tips for future clients.

We’re blending business with bucket lists — because when your work trip includes floating breakfasts, temple views, and a dragon or two, you’re definitely doing something right. 🐉✨

This journey is proof that sometimes your side hustle doesn’t just fund your adventures — it creates them.
